Holistic Wellness Coaching
Change Someone's Life as a Holistic Wellness Coach
Today 1 out of 2 adults has a chronic illness. Yet 70% of healthcare costs are related to preventable diseases. With the right education and support, people can improve their health and lifestyle. They just need someone who can show them the way. That’s where Holistic Wellness Coaching comes in.
What is a Holistic Wellness Coach and What Do They Do?
Holistic Wellness Coaches are professionals who take an integrative approach to help people learn to make healthy lifestyle changes. They take into account more than just nutrition and fitness, but all aspects of a person’s health and life in a true holistic fashion.
Holistic Wellness Coaches are guides, providing support and accountability for their clients so they can make lasting lifestyle changes. Key things you will do as a holistic wellness coach include:
- Coaching and teaching clients ways to achieve and sustain good holistic health and wellness covering all aspects of their life. You will educate clients on more than just the importance of eating whole, nutritious foods, adequate exercise, stress management, adequate sleep but also on their career, relationships, spirituality, mindset and other holistic lifestyle factors that affect a person’s well-being.
- Enable clients to achieve lasting health by coaching and addressing potential imbalances with their nutrition, stress, sleep quality, water intake, movement, personal and career relationships, spirituality and much more.
- You will support clients to assess their lifestyle choices holistically so that they may recognize and address any potential causes affecting their health and wellbeing.
IAWP Holistic Wellness Coaches are leading the way in the healthcare field as we embark upon a new journey of what wellness really means.
Should I Choose Wellness Coaching as a Career?
A Holistic Wellness Coaching career is more than just a trend. People are seeking the support of Health & Wellness Coaches now more than ever as they have a greater understanding of what health and wellness really means and how it impacts their life. Our health is more than our physical appearance, the number on a scale or even our blood pressure. True health and wellness goes beyond numbers and how we look.
Our well-being is a much deeper, holistic look at how we feel and live each day. Holistic Wellness Coaching examines not only the food we eat and the movement we do, but considers our relationship with our self and others, how our mental and emotional state affects our health and what truly motivates us to live a healthy life.
Millions of people set health and wellness goals every year. Whether it’s a New Year’s resolution or a response to some not-so-great news from the doctor, we tend to want to do better. Our health impacts every area of our life. But when it comes to getting fit, changing old habits or improving our emotional wellbeing, making changes is not always easy to do. Having someone to support you to reach your holistic health goals with a program can make a big difference.
Becoming a wellness coach means you serve as a specialist guide for clients to learn from on their wellness journey. As opposed to health coaching, which is limited to physical health, Health & wellness Coaches provide advice, support and accountability to help people reach their goals and make lasting lifestyle changes.
Wellness Coaching is a Rapidly Expanding Field
It’s an exciting time to get started in this field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, health and wellness coaching is growing much faster than average career paths. This is due in part to several factors across a variety of fields.
Corporations are expanding into wellness services and offering corporate health & wellness programs to support employees.
Additionally, the healthcare field is broadening its scope and traditional medical centers are incorporating alternative and preventative care.
Finally, technology is booming which allows Wellness Coaches to leverage tools that may not have been at their disposal in the past. All of these factors are strong reasons to get started in a new career as a wellness coach if you like helping people make changes that positively impact their health.
Work Opportunities as a Certified Holistic Wellness Coach
There are a variety of job opportunities for certified holistic wellness coaches whether you want to work full-time, part-time, run your own business or alongside others such as:
- Running your own business with local clients
- Running your own business with remote clients using tools like Skype, Zoom, Slack, etc.
- In corporations leading workplace health and wellness programs.
- In schools helping children and educators.
- In wellness centers and holistic clinics.
- In yoga studios and fitness centers.
Earning Potential After Graduation
Wellness Coaches are able to command top dollar, especially when they are specialized and have deep knowledge, as IAWP graduates are. A study done by PricewaterhouseCoopers and The International Coach Federation found that the average salary of a coach is $82,000 per year.
According to Forbes magazine, the highest paid wellness coaches can earn well over $100,000 annually. When you specialize in Holistic Health and Wellness Coaching through IAWP, you’ll be positioned to be able to create this kind of income with your new career.
Why People Become Holistic Wellness Coaches
Helping People Create Changes that Stick
If you’ve ever looked at changing your diet, you know that there’s conflicting information out there. Take to the web and you’ll see health websites that tell you to go vegan or follow a vegetarian diet. Yet there’s just as many that claim the Paleo diet or Whole 30 is the way to go.
With so much health advice that seem convincing yet contradicts itself, it’s hard to know whom to trust and what information is correct. What should you do? Where should you turn to learn? We invite you to stop the madness now! You don’t have to jump on the latest bandwagon or fad diet to help live a life of wellness.
Here at the IAWP, we teach that every individual is unique and has a variety of lifestyle factors that determine what works for them. An IAWP Wellness Coach is trained to understand all of these lifestyle factors affecting a person’s well-being and help clients find the right foods and lifestyle choices for their unique makeup.
One thing we’ve noticed over the years of training our students in wellness coaching, is that when a person discovers their own unique path to wellness, the changes are easier to make and easier to keep. Empowering people to make choices that work for them is a key aspect of wellness coaching.
You might be wondering how wellness coaching fits in with traditional health advice and care. It’s a great question. In some cases, a wellness coach picks up where a doctor or nutritionist leaves off. A doctor may recommend that a coach partner with a patient to help them reach their health goals.
A coach can’t diagnose illnesses or prescribe medications. However, they can affect change on a deeply personal level and help to tie an entire healthcare plan together for a successful outcome. Wellness Coaches are like the glue in someone’s health journey.
Own Your Own Business
Many holistic health and wellness coaches opt to work in private practice. You can work from home, rent a shared or solo office space, partner with another holistic professional or even work virtually from your local coffee shop using the latest technology to support your sessions with clients.
One of the big benefits of becoming a Wellness Coach is the ability to set your own hours and be your own boss if you desire. While you can work within an organization or traditional work environment, there are many options to create more flexibility.
The freedom of working when and where you want allows Wellness Coaches to design careers and lifestyles that represent their individuality and tap into their creativity.
The opportunities for sharing your message of wellness and helping others is endless with today’s technology. You can incorporate working with clients over Skype, your own website, email, blogging, starting a YouTube channel, podcasting, public speaking, starting wellness session events in your local community and other innovative marketing techniques to grow your business.
You’re Always Learning
The field of holistic health and wellness coaching is ever-evolving. If you enjoy staying on top of the latest wellness changes, then wellness coaching could be an ideal career for you. Finding a wellness coach training program that provides continuing education and support is the key to your long-term success.
Whether it’s new science in nutrition, an innovation in psychology or a new business strategy, there’s plenty to stay on top of so you can best support your coaching clients. If you love learning new things, then wellness coaching may be the career for you. But how do you know for sure?
Could You Become a Wellness Coach?
Beyond a desire for continued learning, you might be wondering what else is a good sign indicating that you should become a Wellness Coach. Let’s look a little closer. The number one thing that is needed to be successful at wellness coaching is simply having a passion for holistic health. You can learn everything else if you are open to it.
A health and wellness coach should be curious about what makes people tick and enjoy helping them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Holistic Wellness Coaches are professionals who take an integrative approach to help people learn to make healthy lifestyle changes. They take into account more than just nutrition, fitness or simple habit changes, but all aspects of a person’s health and life in true holistic fashion. IAWP Holistic Wellness Coaches are highly trained coaches, providing support and accountability for their clients so they can make lasting lifestyle changes.
Today there are many people calling themselves “Health Coaches”. They have varying educations and backgrounds, some with extensive training, others with no training at all. Health Coaching is a general term that does not tell people what area of health you help with or your specific approach. Many Health Coaches focus solely on nutrition, exercise and habit changes.
“Wellness Coach” is a more specific term. It denotes that more than just general health is being considered in the approach. Wellness signfies well-being and lifestyle aspects beyond food and exercise.
When evaluating various health and wellness coaching programs, it is important to understand the difference between becoming a generalist and a specialist. Whether a training program calls their graduates a “health coach” or a “wellness coach,” they often have a particular angle that they work from.
Holistic Wellness Coaching is a specialty term in which professionals will take a holistic approach to wellness, considering all aspects of a person’s well-being as well as the support provided involves holistic remedies, therapies, and a more natural approach to wellness.
While generalist coaches can be useful, you’re guaranteed greater success when you choose a specialist track like Holistic Wellness. You probably know that in the field of medicine a doctor who is a generalist is paid less than a specialist simply because of their training and industry demands. This is also true for a health and wellness coach.
The International Association of Wellness Professionals is recognized world wide and we have students from numerous countries all over the world.
Our Holistic Wellness Coach Certification Program is CCE accredited by the International Coaching Federation, the international gold standard in training accreditation.
The IAWP is an accredited school by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and approved by the Canadian Health Coach Alliance. Our Wellness Coach Certification program is also approved by the UK Health Coaches Association.
With approval and accreditation from leading organizations across the globe, you can feel confident that our curriculum has met a high standard in terms of the education and support you will receive.
The IAWP is committed to supporting our students while in the program and for the life of their career. Our curriculum is built on support and systems which set the foundation for launching a thriving coaching practice. Our certification is unique because it’s built on an experiential learning method where coaches-in-training receive a full immersion in their learning with unlimited support. For example…
Our students have unlimited opportunity to receive personal coaching from our IAWP Master Coaches during our weekly Live Coaching Labs. You can learn from multiple mentors and experience different coaching styles during these group coaching labs. We offer a wide variety of days and times for our students to gain personal support in these highly transformational training sessions.
Our students also have unlimited access to our live training calls and workshops each month, where you will receive personal support from a Master Coach, a guest teacher or our Founder, Suzanne Monroe.
These events are live, interactive workshops held over video conference and are a great way to connect with our faculty and fellow students, with a laser focus on subject matters related to wellness, coaching, business and mindset.
Our mission at the IAWP is to provide the most supportive online education experience in the industry and we take our mission seriously. The way we deliver our training and support is what makes our program unique from any other training in the online education field today.
Our unique training method is called The Immersive Transformation Training Method™ (ITTM), where you will personally experience and practice everything you learn in your program. This process allows you to master your own wellness, become a highly effective coach, and launch a profitable practice…all during your training.
Unlike most online education, where you “read, watch and learn”, here at the IAWP you will “read, watch, learn and DO” through our hands-on learning experience. ITTM includes interactive training, hands-on application, application modules, real-world experience, small group coaching labs and ongoing support. This full immersion means you always have a place to get direct and personalized support and you not only end up with superior knowledge of coaching, but more importantly, you have the ability to coach.
We also give our students all the tools and systems they’ll need to be confident as new Wellness Coaches, without having to reinvent the wheel or start everything from scratch. You’ll get to build on a foundation that’s guaranteed to help you create success in your new business or career path.
With a large international student population, our students form lasting friendships and peer support relationships with students from around the globe and in their local communities. We don’t stop offering support after graduation, though.
One of the most impactful parts of an education with the IAWP is that we offer lifetime support for all of our students. Our community is always there to provide advice, feedback, and inspiration, no matter where you are in your Holistic Wellness Coach career journey. Don’t just take our word for it, check out what our students are saying!
The short answer is Yes! In fact, we are so confident you will get your first client by the time you graduate, that we guarantee your success. If you follow the steps in our program and fail to attract your first client by graduation, we will refund your tuition and you can keep your certification.
At the IAWP, our program is based on our Immersive Transformation Training Method™. This method ensures you are applying your knowledge during every stage of your training and this includes taking the right steps to attract your ideal clients. Through our business training, you will follow our Coach Launch system, which is designed to take you step by step through a process that will allow you to attract and sign up your first 10 clients, or your next 10 clients, again and again.
When you enroll in our Holistic Wellness Coach Certification program, you will receive Lifetime Access to our training, plus continued education and support for the life of your career. This is very unique in the online education industry and we are unaware of any other organization that provides this level of access and ongoing support.
This also means that you will be part of a community that is committed to supporting one another. Unlike other training programs where access to other students might be limited to your current class, at the IAWP you will have the opportunity to connect with former students and grads who are always excited to share their experiences and pay it forward. It’s truly a unique community like no other.
While you do not need continuing education credits to maintain your IAWP Holistic Wellness Coach Certification, our training is recognized and accredited by several organizations, like ICF where our program can earn you CCEs.
Our primary focus is on giving you the systems and support you need to build a thriving practice, helping others.
Our business training can be applied to building a practice in your local community or creating an online coaching business. Some students prefer to work locally, others go straight to online. The choice is your and will largely depend on your preference.
Through our Coach Launch Fast Track system, you will learn how to set up your business and determine which career track best fits for you. You will learn online marketing basics, social media, video conferencing and other virtual business tools. You’ll also personally experience virtual coaching and online workshops through your training.
Because launching an online practice requires some additional technical skills, we encourage most of our students to apply our systems in their local community first and then expand to online as they build proof of concept with their niche, their signature coaching program and our client attraction strategies.
