Is October 17th marked on your calendar this year to celebrate National Boss’s Day? When I worked in the corporate world, this was a little known, often forgotten or thrown together at the last minute celebration for the boss.
I often wondered what it would be like to be the boss, my own boss. But I was afraid to move forward on my own mostly because I didn’t know what to do or how to do it. I was also concerned with how I could find the time, money, and energy to focus on my passion while I was still in my corporate job. Can you relate?
In 2006, I found Health & Wellness Coaching and knew I was meant to start a new journey of helping others to be healthy and live their best lives. I was so excited I had finally figured out what to do with my life that I thought everything else would just fall into place. But I was wrong.
I had come to a crossroads where I had to decide whether I was going to give up on my passion or follow my dreams. I had to decide whether I was going to continue to feel stuck or make a difference in my life by following my heart and becoming my own boss. I feared walking away from my corporate job but knew that I could if I had a plan to do so smartly. I was able to make that transition, and so can you!
The Transition To Being Your Own Boss
We recently surveyed thousands of wellness professionals and learned that many of them share common concerns with transitioning from an existing career to a new career in wellness. Transitioning as it relates to business can show up in many ways:
- Transitioning from working for someone to working for yourself
- Transitioning from working for a company to working at home
- Transitioning from being a stay-at-home parent to a work-at-home parent
- Transitioning from a “stable” W2 income to generating your own income
- Transitioning from one way of running your business to a new way
