What you were doing before you decided to become an IAWP Wellness Coach?
Prior to deciding to become a Wellness Coach I worked full time in my own massage practice. I did a lot of corporate chair massage work and had regular clients come to my private studio for table massages. In addition I taught my unique bodywork technique to other massage therapists in workshops. I also am the marketing director for my parent’s lighting business and a model and actress.
Why did you decide to become a Wellness Coach?
I decided to become a Wellness Coach because I have been unofficially coaching people my entire life. It’s very natural to who I am. I was a peer tutor in middle school and a student counselor. I’ve always been the person people divulge their secrets to, both their dreams and their pain points. People come to me with their challenges whether they be physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, social, or relationships. Supporting people to live their best lives, on their terms, and to transform their challenges is something that totally lights me up and I feel so much passion and zest when I am coaching. As soon as I saw the course work and the recommended reading lists inside the program I knew I had arrived “home”.
How has being a student at the IAWP helped you?
Being a student at the IAWP has helped me in ways I never even thought of. I came into the program with an extensive history of self-study in living a holistic and natural life. I had healed myself from all of my ailments physically and have been living a non-toxic and natural lifestyle without the need of using pharmaceuticals or over the counter drugs for many years. The program taught me a lot about being an effective coach…and allowed me to relax into the coaching process….
Personally, I have grown so much by going through the program. It was totally unexpected and completely life changing. I chose to hire a coach outside of the program while going through the program and I worked to resolve what could be called my “core issues”. The ongoing support of my student buddy and our shared process together empowered the both of us to focus on improving ourselves in ways we had never thought of and to become much better versions of ourselves. We both said we went into the program with the intention of helping other people and along the way we discovered we really had helped ourselves. For me the biggest shift this year has been that I went from being a high achieving “striver” to finally arriving into who I wanted to be, now all the rest of my achievements and accomplishments are for the joy of the doing, I’m not basing how I feel about who I am or my success in life on them.
Now, I’m confident that I can guide my clients to take sustainable action to create the lives they desire.
